Adventures with Aidan

Sometimes you just need to have some good old fashion fun, right?! Throw that  to-do list out the window and just go with it. I think that is what I needed to do after how my week has been. Plus, I couldn't remember the last time I took Aidan out and just spent time with him doing things we love so that is what we set out to do!

OK Mom...I'm ready :)

First we went to our favorite place to eat...Noodles and Company. Both of us LOVE pasta. I could eat pasta every day and never get sick of it. Noodles has the best mac n cheese... who am I kidding. Noodles has the best everything. Japanese pan noodles. Indonesian Peanut Saute. I love everything. Aidan loves the buttered noodles.

Then we went to Barnes and Noble. I am so lucky my boy is a reader. He LOVES books just like his momma. Last week was Dr. Suess's birthday so his classroom celebrated by having a little party. They also read The Lorax. Have you read it? Aidan really liked the story. He came home from school and told us all about it. Naturally, we had to have it. And I must say, I really enjoy the story too.

He sat here for an hour just reading through all of the books we picked out. He was completely content.

Although, he did need to find different positions to sit in. I thought this one was cutest. The Barnes and Noble near us has a little stage and reading area with "trees"...he liked snuggling up with the trees.

Heather, who blogs at Life Made Lovely, started The Joyful Life Library Project. I'm in love. I think books are so so important. Who doesn't love snuggling up with their kiddo and a book? We read to Aidan when he was an itty bitty baby and now that he is five he asks for us to read to him. He recognizes words. He has what I consider an incredible vocabulary base. I think what Heather is doing is really great, so I had Aidan help pick out a few of his favorite books so that we can send them to her for one of her library locations.  I am also looking into my next service opportunity and I think this might be it. I'm excited!

After our time at Barnes and Noble, I dragged Aidan along to look for a sofa table. He was such a good sport about it. We had so much fun just the two of us. I really ought to make more of an effort to do it more often.

  1. honestly Kristi I still every once in a blue moon make Nick go with me to an "unknown destination" (movies/lunch) because I LOVE to just spend time with him too, even if he is almost 19! enjoy every moment because it goes way too fast
